Hurricane Katrina
5 Years Later: An Introduction
This week I’ll be sharing photos I shot during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
You can scroll down below for the latest blog entry and view the pictures within each blog or use the menu to the right labeled Hurricane Katrina to read a specific day's blog entry.
The reason for this series, five years later, is three-fold.
First, I want to tell the stories of the good people of southern Louisiana. I want to share what couldn’t be written in a two-sentence caption and show photographs that were never published.
Second, I’d like to give a behind the scenes look at being a young female photojournalist covering a massive natural disaster.
And third, my hope is that through this series people will remember what took place on August 29, 2005 and the days after along the Gulf Coast. It isn’t over. New Orleans still needs your help.
