Hidden Gems in My Parents' Garage
<< BackCategory:Out and AboutGeneral

While housesitting for my parents in Odessa, I opened the garage door and a tiny brown bird flew past my head in a hurry, like she was on a mission.
The next time I came back, I opened the garage door again and before my car could pull inside, she flew back in and headed for the Christmas decorations.
My parents have a lift hanging from their ceiling that holds two huge Christmas trees.
Apparently, this is a very cozy and quiet place to build a nest. I got up on a ladder and looked a little closer at the pocket of pine needles sticking out from the bright green storage bags. Sure enough, this little bird has flown in pine needles, leaves, sticks, feathers and a bit of trash to make a great little home.
Today when I walked into the garage, I heard adorable, faint chirps and I realized she needed a home for her babies!
While mama was away, I snapped a few photos of these (what seem to be) very young birds. They are obviously hungry in these photos and probably wished I was their mother bringing them some food!
So, keep your eyes open--you never know who might be in your garage!
