Tampa Family Portrait Photography: The McCloys

The McCloy sisters are a force to be reckoned with...and they are some of the funniest clients I've ever photographed.
God bless the fabulous couple who raised these girls--having children is a challenge but having FIVE GIRLS must have been an adventure. I’m guessing this experience is where they got their sense of humor!
The best part about photographing family portraits for folks like the McCloys is that they know how to make the best of a situation. Shooting portraits outside in July in Florida can be miserable. It’s not the best month to do this but when sisters from five states can be in one place at one time, you make it work.
We traveled to Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park in New Port Richey, Florida for the session. It’s a great place to shoot with different options depending on what clients want out of their portraits. It’s definitely packed with “wilderness” so I wouldn’t recommend tuxes and prom dresses!
I’m finding out every day that this is a small world we live in. Mrs. McCloy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana—where I lived for four years working at the local newspaper. And the family decided to vacation in Odessa, Florida, five minutes from my home!
Moral of the story—shooting family portraits in 95 degree heat and nearly 100% humidity is totally worth it when you have clients like the McCloys!
