Tampa Women of Worth Emphasizes Life-Long Networking Relationships

Like many other small-business owners, I was searching for something more than a “leads group” to invest my time and energy into. I have attended countless networking meetings in the Tampa Bay area and I found one called BLAB (Business Ladies Advancing Business) in 2008. I loved it! The women were all fabulous and so very different in their professions and personalities. They all seemed to know how to have fun but still get business done!
Unfortunately in 2010 the founders decided to disband BLAB and I, along with about 12 other women in my chapter, didn’t want the networking and friendships to end.
So, Dr. Carrie Oleston approached me about starting our own group and I loved the idea. Dr. Carrie and I believe in the “give to get” philosophy when it comes to networking. We don’t expect leads to be handed to us when we walk into a meeting but we’d rather get to know a group of select women and build life-long relationships.
We launched Tampa Women of Worth in January of 2011 and it has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception. What started with 14 members has grown to 30 members in just a few short months. We are capping the membership at 40 women so we don’t lose the intimate feeling of really getting to know one another.
Our meetings are held on the first and third Mondays (except holidays) at Mimi’s Café on North Dale Mabry in Carrollwood from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. We get everyone situated from 11:30 am to noon with ordering lunch, seating and chatting. Each meeting we have a “Member Talk” and a “Mastermind Discussion”. The Talk is a 10-minute presentation on a member’s business. It’s just another way for us to get to know our members, what they do and how we can help. The Discussion is presented by Dr. Carrie, myself or a willing member and the goal is to educate our group and find ways to improve our businesses. One discussion might be about incorporating social media into your marketing while another may be about balancing life, family, and work. And we hope our members walk away with some new information each time they visit.
We only allow one member per profession so please check the industry exclusives here before attending as a guest. All of our info is on our Facebook page but you can also find us on Meetup and Twitter! Please RSVP on Facebook under Events if you'd like to join us.
We hope to meet you soon!
